The staff at budget were so unbelievably rude. It was an awful experience collecting the car from them. When we did collect the car, it was not what I had ordered as we received a 3 door Fiat 500e and I had clearly selected a 5 door car. The car had a flat tire that we had to get pumped up, which was extremely dangerous. I have images to prove that we had to take it straight to a mechanic to get air in the tire to be safe to drive. Overall very disappointed and I would never book through Budget again.

Pick up at Atocha station - Difficult to realize that the pick up is on the parking lot and not at proper Atocha Station - 3 ppl were at the counter but only one was attending customers (There is still a sign on the door that only one customer is allowed a time inside) - Information about refilling the car with petrol at time of return was first confusing. "The message was "our rate of Euro 1,20 is cheaper than at regular petrol stations". The detail that the charge would be the costs of a full tank instead of the actually used petrol was explained in detail when I asked the employee to repeat this information again - When I got to the car, I realized many scratches on the vehicle, especially on one side at the back. This was not adressed to me. I asked another employee who walked by if this is normal and that none had pointed this out? Hi responded "Didn't you sign the contract?" I should check there to see if this damages are noted down. I looked in my inbox but the electronic email had not arrived yet, therefor I went back to the counter to lign up behind another customer. When it was my turn, the employee looked for the the information and explained that there is a "code" of several numbers that protocol various damages on the car, so everything is ok but I should still take photos for documentation.... -- Return Barajas The service at the return at Barajas was professional, quick and the person received me with a big smile as well!

Car ok. Very difficult to find drop off place in Atocha
Horrible! They gave out our car because our flight changed and when we got there the people in the counter where disrespectful and they said they didnt have any cars. We had to rent another car from another company but this service was terrible.

They canceled my appointment an hour before arriving so they could rent the car to someone else for 4 times as much. What's the point of a reservation that they don't honer? It's not a reservation, it's a complicated and dumb ticket system that is premptable based on their greed.

I paid for car on internet. Later went to pick up the rental and was told I had to pay extra money for insurance £200 for £1200 excess or £300 for £0 excess in case of accident & further £140 for petrol which hopefully I should get back if petrol tank full. I had to pay £600 to rent the car. Apart from the above. The car itself was very nice , had a great experience on holiday. I was able to do much more on holiday. Hertz gave a good service from start to finish in delivery & receiving of car.

I have rented from Sixt in the US before and had a good opinion of them. The price was good and the drop off instructions were handy and acurate. This is the first time I've rented from them in Europe and there were a few things that tarnished their corporate image of them. First, they didn't have my desired car. I was upgraded to a compact SUV because compact car that I booked was unavailable -- a small car for the small streets of Spanish towns would have been better and I don't like higher rides. It was also hard to find the car in Seville lot and nobody from Sixt was around to help. I also felt pressured by the agent in Seville to get additional insurance that I didn't need. The drop off location in Grenada is in an underground parking lot that wasn't well lit.

Very different price from what kayak calculates. 160 instead of 110 for a three day rent. On top of that came a 90 euro insurance. I’m not used to this market but it looks like pricing has Ryanairised.
The agent who helped me (Javier) was excellent!!!! The car was dirty (back seat specially).

I could not rent a car, because I was told that I rented a car via US site and it did not include car insurance, so they either wanted my credit card (which I did not have) to proceed with renting or pay 2 times more that I initially paid for reservation for the insurance, which is totally unacceptable. As a result I had to refuse, but I was not returned full money, europcar charged me for 3 days, though I tried very hard to cancel the reservation before the deadline, but was unable to do it because the mobile website did not work properly and did not display "cancel" button (I have a screenshot proof of that), so when I got home, I did not have an option to cancel the reservation and had to resolve the situation by calling to support, which helped to return the money for 11 days of 14, but still I had to pay 3 days and that is not even my fault! that is awful. The worst renting experience I've had so far.
Nobody waitng for us at the airport. And no one answers the phone when we are calling.

Avis added about 25% additional fees to the contract at the time of pick up for insurance that I didn’t select at the time of booking. I had to explicitly alert the agent these fees are not legit and he took them off. Then again at drop off time when I was getting the final bill, I found the same additional fees added and has to go work this out with another agent to take them off. Not a good experience to feel I’m getting robbed twice. Also, although I filled up the car on my way to the airport, the inspection showed it is missing 2 liters and Avis wanted to charge me 26 euros for those. It was clear that the analog indicator in the dashboard is at the full sign so the inspecting agent cancelled the fees. But again, not the best experience this time

The airport where we picked up the car was tiny so it’s not a surprise we had to wait to be helped. The paperwork took a long time. I had reserved a car for about $70 for the day but was told I’d be charged about $160 if I didn’t bring it back with a full tank. There were no employees around when I returned it at 5:30pm so I don’t know what I was charged. As the rental was in Spain, it’s not easy for me to call and find out. Returning the car was very confusing and not well marked. Another group said the parking was full and suggested I leave the car at the side of the airport roundabout, which fortunately I did not do. The car itself was clean and had a full tank, just the rental process was very confusing. I’m decently fluent in Spanish so that wasn’t the issue.
Excellent service, great cars, wonderful value for money.

We picked up two cars from the Dollar agency in Madrid and dropped them off at San Sebastian. We got one car with fuel tank half empty and were politely told that the fuel gauge was damaged and the fuel tank is actually full. That was a lie. Shamefull behavior by Dollar agancy in Madrid! After drop off in San Sebastian we got a 300euro damage claim by email. When we asked to see the damage and compare it to the photos of the car sent to us by Dollar in Madrid, they simply cancelled the damage claim without showing us the car. Lucky for us we saw their email before we boarded our flight. They simply tried to false claim 300euro. Shameful behavior by Dollar agency (Hertz office) in San Sebastian. I recommend to keep away from Dollar. However, if you do rent a car from them, dont trust their word ans take photos of everything during pick up. And NEVER return the car keys on drop off without going over the car with their representative. Good luck.

I made the reservation on kayak and it said it would be for $22 a day, but then I was charged $59 a day. The car was great but then when I went to return it at the airport I filled it up with gas but it was difficult to find the return area so the gas ticked down to 9/10ths full and I dropped off 15 minutes late. As a result they charged me for an extra day and $75 for gas. Plus there were tons of other fees so that my total cost was over $500 for using the car for two days. Much more expensive then kayak advertised!
There were three people serving others. and I was first in line....But, it still took 25 minutes before being served. The car was not ready. ( 30 minutes past the pick-up time.) I was given a different car. ( an upgrade.. but that costs more for gasoline ) I returned the car on the 15th, today is the 19th July but I have not yet received by refund after 4 days. ( my Refund= difference between actual rental cost and deposit charged )
