We booked a manual car and a compact (as that is what my partner feels comfortable to drive, especially when you're in a foreign country and got £2500 held on your account in case of any damages). However when we arrived no car close to that was available. She didn't even explain when we arrived. Only after we had completed all the information and card details stuff, we went to the car and it was a huge automatic coupé... we were like "that's not the car or category we ordered", her reply was rude, "that's all we have and it's better than what you ordered". I can understand a slight change and I appreciate that an automatic is easier to drive, but if you've never driven one before and in a foreign country, any change is a risk, especially with the held money on your account. And I mean, how does their system work? When I book a car online, surely it's from a range and reserves that car (or a car in that category for us). Why do I get there and the car I ordered is not available? Surely that is the point of ordering/reserving a car online. This was hugely frustrating. And she was rude and unhelpful. Due to feeling very uncomfortable with the whole situation, we didn't get the car. We were actually already in Ljubljana City already, so had to come from the city (not the airport), so we spent £20 and 3 hours round trip to get to the airport, find out the car we ordered/reserved was not actually correct and not be able to order a car because when you try to rent a car on the day the prices are ridiculous. So yeah, all in all, not a pleasant experience unfortunately. I would like to be compensated for kind of ruining our week long trip in Slovenia, but I'm not sure how.
