The Sixt customer representative in Nice airport was great. He was welcoming, funny and extremely helpful. We will definitely be using this service again thanks to him

Everything was good, but the price of extra insurance was not explained thoroughly at the rental counter and ended up costing us a lot more than if we had bought insurance at the time of booking.

Great, easy pickup at Marseille airport but drop off at Toulon train station was a bit unusual. No one to actually receive the car just a key drop. Otherwise, all was good, although car could have benefited from a closer check before pick up ie no windscreen fluid, uncharged etc.

We really liked the car - it was an SUV (wow, challenging to drive in Europe). But for a 6 week trip, covering much distance, the size and comfort was excellent. We had excellent customer support at pickup and dropoff. We made a request that was very slightly out of company policy and they happily accommodated. Pickup and dropoff for us were at different locations. We are familiar with the different settings of European vs American car rental: the European experience in frequently cramped, confused (plenty of 'lost in translation), and harried. We did not experience that during pickup, but definitely and massively, at dropoff. These events always end up as fabulous travel stories - so, that's the bright side. :) We will be happy to use Sixt in the future.

The car booking was for a "minivan" for 7 passengers and 4 suitcases. When I arrived at the rental location, the vehicle could almost fit 6 adults and I was forced to upgrade for 30€ a day. Even then, the new vehicle didn't fit 7 passengers and 4 suitcases. At time of return, I was 2 hours late on the return and Sixt charged a full day at 165€ per day instead of an hourly rate.
The rental counter folks were great! There was a bit of a line when we arrived, but the staff did a great job with the numbers they had to help everyone.

Car had not been cleaned and was filthy. No one had explained there would be zero insurance on the car not even basic insurance. Enterprise wanted to charge an additional €55 to drive the car into France.

They didn't want to rent the car because I don't own a credit card only a debit one. I went to other car rentals and they took any kind of card. I didn't see anywhere on Enterprise site that I need a credit card not a debit.

The company was closed at our reserved pickup time. When we called a near by location they gave cancelled our reservation because they could contact me by phone… probably because I was on the plane at that time.
They are trying to charge me almost 4,000.00 euros for a three day rental. My reservation quote was for 414.00 euros

I prepaid through Kayak. I got to the Hertz office a couple of hours after the designated pick up time, but figured it was not an issue since I prepaid for the entire reservation. I have had the same situation in the US and in Canada, so why should this be different? But it was. The agent told me that my reservation had been cancelled because I was over an hour past the start of the reservation, and that there were no more cars available. When I pushed back and said that the 'policy' which she was relaying was nowhere in my rental agreement with Kayak nor in any other experience that I had previously with Hertz, suddenly two cars were available, but both at a markup over what I already paid. I needed a car, so I paid it. I will follow up with Hertz as well to let them know of this issue. Buyer beware - Hertz in Paris (at least the 99 Rue Rivoli location) is shady!

Pick up was atrocious. 90 mins queuing outside the (air- con) office. Then tried to pass off a different car to what was booked (smaller and full electric). When using the car I hit a rock and burst two tyres. Nobody from hertz office would answer the call. No emergency details with the car. And hertz emergency line wouldn't respond either. Ultimately, having stood in 39⁰ heat for over an hour, I made my own arrangements and was then responsible for settling bill for tyres, fitting, truck pick up, taxi home and a second rental whilst we awaited the repairs to be completed. I rented the 2nd car through sixt (hertz affiliated) and some with the hertz figari manager who had no interest in my accident or appalling customer service I had endured because I hadn't "used the hertz emergency assistance"

They gave us an electric car when it wasn’t what we have paid for
Car was fine. I picked this location because it seemed to be closest to the cruise ship location. Unfortunately, it's located in an area where there isn't a lot of taxi traffic. We returned the vehicle after closing hours (8AM to 5PM) and the phone number we had been given by the attendant for taxi service didn't work. We were able to finally get a ride back to the cruise terminal by a kindly private motorist.

Renting from the French side of the Geneva airport turned out to be somewhat confusing. Everything smooth once we figured out where to go. I wouldn't recommend this option if you're planning to spend time in Switzerland. There was an upcharge for staying overnight in Geneva.

Genuinely miserable and frightening experience trying to return this car. We will never ever ever rent from this office again. We were also disappointed to find that only half the tank had been filled on pick up, and unfortunately, didn’t realize until we had already left. I took a photo with a time and date stamp to prove it with the intention of showing the agent on our return, but it took over three hours from downtown Geneva to find the right place to return the car by which time the agent had left - a complete nightmare
Accused me of damaging car. Time-stamped videos at pick up and drop off clearly show that the damage was present when I got the car. Watch out, document, and don't get scammed! Agency in industrial area w dive bars, on-street parking and poor lighting. Cars parked way down the street, out of view of office or their cameras. Then blame renters. I'm still fighting the charges.

It's a good and trustworthy operation. Pickup was very easy. The car worked well. Drop off was also easy. No complaints
Scam. Arrived 'too late' to collect my car – despite having paid in full for the reservation in advance – so my car had been 'given away' and (shock!) the only available car was a luxury BMW, meaning I had to pay a further £250 or be stuck without a car. Shameful practice.
