The vehicle was not maintained at all and never should have been assigned to a customer. Upon returning the vehicle, a supervisor acknowledged the situation and promised to give me a 25 percent discount on the rental price -- but then did not do that. When trying to communicate with Routes during the rental period, I found that the language barrier made it difficult.

The only thing I liked was the shuttle to airport. They tried charging for things that I didn't need without even asking. The car was dirty on the inside and ran poorly for a 2025. They also weren't the nicest to deal with. I won't rent from them again.

Routes Car & Truck Rentals Locations in Puerto Rico
After having a van reserved for months, upon arrival they told me they no longer rent them and they tried to offer me 2 vehicles to drive 9 people around all week. The sales people were horrible and claim that they had called me several times about the rental which was a lie based on phone records. The company sent me several confirmations and never cancelled the reservation. At the last minute I had to scramble and find a different rental while my group waited at the airport. Horrible!

There is nothing good about renting from Avis. When the local branch was NOT helpful, rude, and called me names I won't put on here. When calling corporate for "help", that was even worse. They would just talk over you and tell you to figure it out. I was trying to get them their car back and they had no information to give me on how to do so. Gave me a key that wasn't even for that car so the alarm went off every time I opened the door. They said numerous times a manager would call me back, but months later never did. DO NOT rent from Avis!!!! They have NO idea how to have customer service or help people.

I video taped the exterior of the car before I even turned it on in Ponce, to document any exterior damage. I was doing the same in San Juan, when the Budget employee jumped in and took off — before I could finish. The inside wasn’t clean. There were stains and someone had left melted caramel in the glove box. (I cleaned it, so they wouldn’t blame me for it.) The car itself performed well and was fuel efficient.

Nice vehicle. No problems with it. Drop off was easy. Pick up - we waited for over an hour for the car to be brought up (along with others) not being told we could go to the vehicle and check out despite asking about it. I was told I would get an email after turning it in which I did not seem to get. Bill was more than expected or initially presented and I don't yet know why.
After rent an SUv, it was not available, then upgrade at cost more.

We got a Mitsubishi Mirage and it ran like absolute garbage. Sounded like it was going to break down any minute. We had to fill the tires up multiple times. You get what you pay for, and we paid a very low price. Only real complaint is that it took almost 45 minutes to get picked up at the airport by their shuttle driver. But we were dropped back off promptly on our way back.

Thank you for ensuring we knew our at home insurance policy. This could have been disastrous if anything were to happen. Unfortunately, our car was filthy on the inside it wasn’t cleaned at all. We placed our bags in the back seat and in the door handle was someone’s fake fingernail from before us. The entire inside of the car was dirt / sand.

the process for picking up the car could have been better. i felt uncomfortable going through the process versus "larger named" car rentals. waited at airport for a very long time while trying to call them for instructions on where to go to pick up the car
Awful , when we reserved online we were told our rental Would be only $188 , when we cams to get our car it came out to $632 , the lady was rude when I had told her rental only said $188 with an attitude, oh but it comes wish everything and you get the $250 back , I said to her my flight was much cheaper then this . When we got our car later in the day we notice a roach or 2 .. we went to buy food for our air bnb . When we went upstairs and took the food out roaches were coming out of everywhere , we went back and told they guy he did switch our car , he said ppl eat and leave food in the car . That does not matter those cars should be clean every time a car is returned!!!! We will never ever rent from here again!!!!! , we should get half our money back plus the deposit.

Classic "Bait & Switch" tactic. Price listed at reservation (with fees and taxes) was roughly $111.00. I was forced to buy their insurance ($17/day at least) even though my MN auto insurance provides full coverage. Car had not been washed, interior smelled of marijuana, windows were dirty. Agent said fuel was at 3/4 tank. After driving 6 miles, I noticed that the fuel level was actually 1/4, so they obviously lied. The exterior condition of the vehicle was poor....many dents and scratches. I only drove on paved roads, through some torrential rain - which didn't wash off all of the one bird poop ( from parking under a tree). There was minimal sand on the floor mats (from going to the beaches). No trash left in vehicle. Interior roof in the bach seat was stained prior to our rental. I was assessed $150 cleaning fee. MY FINAL BILL WAS $630.00. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
The staff simply needs more help. Even with a reservation, our wait-in-line time was 45min. If not for some initiative taken by an employee, the car inspection and retrieval process would have added an additional 20min to the pickup. Otherwise, the staff was nice and helpful.

Long wait to get the car. Actual price differ from online rate for much. They charge extra fee for everything. Car was in bad condition, turned the check/oil light and company told me twice when called to keep using it that way. Ended adding 3 quarts of oil that were missing. The staff was rude, so avoid using this company and save some money.
Worst experience ever. When I book it - it read pick up at the airport After the reservation, it switched to pick up off site - no shuttle and had to uber to off site.
