The check-in process was very slow. There seemed to be a lot of people with issues taking up all the sales representatives, backing up the line. We waited over 30 minutes to get to the counter, and our reservation took 5 minutes. However, when we got to the pick-up lot, our car was already gone. We got an upgraded car for free, as that's all that was left. But we were charged for upgraded surfaces that we didn't request.

Parking & rental car pickup/drop-off at STT airport is transitioning so quite the mess now. On the positive side, I unknowingly left my debit card in the rental car after returning it. Debbie hunted me down to inform me and she was kind enough to shred my card as I dealt with my bank. Very kind. On day 3 of 12 day rental, low tire pressure was displayed on dashboard. Called Budget and was told to bring in the car and “we’ll fix it”’. Despite late hour on Sunday, it was fixed in 30 minutes. Very kind again.
The wait to pick up the car was insane. I waited about an hour in line to pick up the car. Then they end up giving me a car that had a big dent from an accident in the side of the passenger door. The car drove us everywhere and was able to handle up hills and down hills. I just didn’t like its appearance. Drop off was more efficient , we didn’t have to wait.

The battery failed while we were in a somewhat remote location. We called the local office who called Customer Service who had roadside assistance dispatched. The woman at the local office was very friendly, patient and professional. Extreme Towing, operated by Darren did a quick and friendly battery replacement.

It was a nice car ran well. It had a few minor scratches on it but after driving around in St Thomas for 2 weeks I can see why the scratches. Check in and out was a breeze, the cost was about double what the original on line price. Oh well I was tired and didn't want to argue.

Check in process was very slow. We spent around 30 minutes in line behind 3 people, and over 20 minutes to check out, for a prepaid reservation. The car itself was in poor condition. Multiple dents, broken gas cap cover, broken hatch release lever, and the front collision sensor didn’t work, which would send an alert every time while driving down the road. I’m assuming the malfunction was due to front end damage the car sustained in a collision prior to my rental that they did not repair.

bought damage waiver at around $45/ day, then walked 10 mins to the car lot and shown the car for us that had major front and other damage to the car, then told by unrecognizable attendant that if I wanted a non-dented car I had to walk all the way back to the rental counter, the attendant was indignant about wanting to change out the car and could not believe it was that bad, then I showed her a picture and she then could say nothing and gave me a new car, the worst run operation I have ever exerienced

Reservation process straightforward, pick up was only feet away and drop off was uncomplicated. Need to make note that the airport charge of $3.00 is not included in the rate. Some people could make an issue of this…

Price was reasonable, they didn’t have the car size we requested, upgraded to a much larger vehicle which is not a great deal on an island with very narrow streets hard to find parking and expensive gas. The vehicle was an older model which was well cleaned but did have several exterior bruises which were accounted for, no problem there. The location when returning the car was a bit tricky to find. The check in process was a bit long but the return was quick.

Car was pretty beat up. Staff was rude during pick up. The automatic door opener on key didn’t work (they said they forgot to put a battery in. Also, there was no windshield wiper fluid and the windshield wipers didn’t work. Given the salty air and rainy weather, this made for very dangerous driving conditions. Staff didn’t even apologize for any of these issues. Would never rent from them again.

The wrong number was provided upon arrival to the airport for shuttle pickup. The stuff was pushy and degrading. The car was a mess, trashed, missing parts and pieces, seats were faded, dents and holes all over the body. Tires pressure light was on upon pickup of the vehicle. A/C didn’t work well, the car would cut out going up hills. There were only 3 of 4 floor mats in the vehicle. Windshield wipers didn’t work and it rained so it made it VERY difficult to drive. I could go on.

The woman working when we brought the car back was delightful and very nice. The two drivers to and from the airport were nice as well. It was only a 7 minute ride from the airport to the rental agency. The lady that was working when we originally rented the car seemed to hate her job. I couldn’t hear her at all, and she seemed to generally be miserable. The gas tank was maybe 2/3 to 3/4 full upon check out. The radio/stereo would not turn on at all, and the brakes were in need of changing as well. The checkin day truly saved this review from being a zero star review.

Economy Rent a Car Locations in U.S. Virgin Islands
I coordinate to pickup the car near the seadock vs the airport, since I was that day dropping off a different rental at Centerline, also near the seadock. Employee picked me up promptly after my call letting them know I was at Centerline, and everything else went smoothly.

Convenance and nice car (too Small for someone who is 6'-1" tall. The car was to small for an intermediate size ride (Corolla). I don't know if I gt the wrong car or this is the normal intermediate size vehicle.

Great service, thanks! This Hertz location may consider having a shuttle service or courtesy driver to the Terminal to protect passengers from the elements. Also, a shuttle service will help those with lots of bags.

Pickup/drop off is super easy, quick, and right at the airport. We know this because we had to return one rental car half way through the trip due to the electrical system going haywire. We were experts by the time we returned the second car, which was having transmission problems. Not sure if it’s a Hertz thing or a STX thing, but the cars are seriously abused.

When we picked up the car the attendant was very short with us and we could hardly follow what she was saying. This was the first time me and my new wife have ever rented a car and when she asked for us to pay we just used a debit card. We were than charged and extra 28 or so dollars a day because we didn't use a credit card, which wasn't mentioned until after she charged the card, and we weren't fully aware of this beforehand. We than asked her if we could switch our payment method to a credit card, which we had with us, to avoid the extra fee. She quickly and rudely respond that she couldn't do that for us since she already ran our card. Like I mentioned this was the first time we have ever rented a car and will likely be the last time we rent with Hertz unless we can somehow get this sorted out.
