The new car rental facility at Kahului airport is awesome. It took just a few minutes to sign the rental agreement,then go to the parking garage. We had an entire row of cars to choose from,so we picked the only red car in the row. We checked for any dings and scratches and made note of them, gave a copy to the agent,and off we went. The return was easy peasy. We just followed the the return signs at the airport into the return area,parked, and got our luggage. The agent asked if we’d had any problems with the car,which we didn’t,and off we went to catch our flight home. It’s so nice when things go so smoothly. Thanks Dollar!

The cost was horrendous, but the little Kia was in good shape. I recommend against going for the gas option unless you plan on a LOT of driving.

The car had a dead battery one day around 7pm at the National park in Maui and the emergency contact number provided in the receipt didn’t work. Called multiple times no body answered the phone. We had to call 911 to get contact with the park ranger and get a local towing company to start the car. It’s freezing out there in the park that night. The towing guy didn’t bring the correct tools and couldn’t jumpstart the car. Eventually a park ranger arrived and jumpstarted the car. We got back from the park until midnight. We got charged by the towing company for more than $700. So far we haven’t got an answer from Dollar to refund the cost. We bought Dollar’s insurance.
