My first time using Hertz. I will never use them again! I reserved a mid size SUV for the time and location that best fit a number of important things an appointments I had scheduled for the day. At the scheduled time I traveled to the pickup location, and sat patiently for nearly 40 minutes, for my turn to be called up to the counter. Upon stating that I had a reservation, I was told "Oh, we don't have any vehicles available". Caught a little off guard, I again stated, there must be some mistake, I made a reservation. Again being told in a matter of fact way, we have no cars. The rental agent then turns around and picks up a set of keys and says< "well we do have a full size SUV, that will be an upgrade and it will be $60 more per day". So I said< " hang on a second, I made a reservation for a standard SUV for $60 per day. You don't have any standard SUV"s but u have a full size, you are going to upgrade me for free right? He said no, it will be $60 a day more. He then leaned over to the agent next to him and said, can we do a free upgrade? To which the rental agent said, " we don't have any cars, we need that one". And so I was told "sorry, we dont have any cars. I can put you on a waiting list if you want. This screwed up all the plans I had for the day, since I was renting a car for my necessity and not because I had some free time so, Oh, I know what, let me go rent a car. Hertz didnt care one bit that I had a bunch of things scheduled for that day. Not one care what so ever. I will never use Hertz again.
