I'm renting many vehicles this summer and none with Hertz b/c of the price. I got a car for 9 days that costs only $200 more than what I rented for less than 48 hours. The brakes need work on the van we rented as well.

I was scammed by Avis. They ran my drivers liscense and said they could not rent to me. Enterprise and Hertz had no trouble. Very inconvenient, do not trust Kayak, will not use Avis again.

When I arrived at the Avis rental car office there were no cars available. I waited an hour and a half before Avis could find another car at different location. And when i arrived at the other location the car I received was a step down in size. Not a pleasant experience.

The reservation was booked online and a confirmation number was provided. Upon arrival at Avis there were no vehicles available. This left me completely without a vehicle. This is absolutely unacceptable! The business model needs a serious review on how reservations are handled!!! I learned my lesson to never book with Avis!

The guy working at the Avis was rude. He called because I was late, which I know is my fault, however, I told him I was still coming to pick up the rental around 4pm. He told me that I was out of luck and that he couldn't honor my reservation because he only had 4 cars and 7 reservations. He had a terrible attitude through the entire conversation. I offered to pay over the phone and sign whatever he needed electronically but he just continued to be rude as he told me that wasn't an option. I said I would call back when I was on my way and see if a car was left and he just blew me off and hung up. I did call back and his response was "see you when you get here". Once I arrived he asked for my name, then ID and credit card, which he ran without giving me a total or letting me see any paperwork first. Once given the paperwork, he went over nothing, did no walk around of the car, just expected me to initial and sign blind. I was then given keys and off. He also didn't ask if there would be any other drivers so I was unable to provide my wife's info. I'll never use that Avis again.

Frustrating. I'm a long-time Alamo renter (and fan). But we got into a car that REEKED of cigarettes, and immediately reported that. We were told "oh, we'll make sure to credit you for that." When we returned the car at the end of our rental, that hadn't happened (no credit at all, no notation on the receipt). We called, and were told that someone from Burbank would be in touch. When we got the call from someone at Burbank, it was as if he hadn't looked at the record at all, and his message was "well, when you return the car, we can ..." WHAT?? The car was returned DAYS before this call was placed. SO frustrating - and ... why did we get a cigarette-reeking car in the first place? Someone had clearly sprayed one or two pumps of air freshener in it, but that quickly dissipated. Very, very, very disappointing.

We booked a car last minute during the week of spring break. We were concerned they wouldn't have the car we needed so we called National at 10:30am on the morning of the scheduled pickup (3pm). They assured us everything was good. Drove 75 miles to pick up the car only to find out the reservation was canceled PRIOR to the 10:30am confirmation phone call. They didn't have the car we needed, and nothing comparable, and nobody thought to call us. We wasted 4 hours and they offered no alternate solutions... Very disappointed!!

Employees were friendly but did not give any resolution to the dirty van. No coupon to go get it washed. Just an excuse of why it was dirty on the outside, but ok what about the inside. There could be no excuse. It just was not cleaned from previous uses. I Lysol and wiped down with disinfectant wipes. Van was dirty inside and out.
