The car was wonderful, clean and what I reserved online. The actual check- out and return service in terms of leaving the garage and dropping the car off- at the same airport, BNA, Nashville were perfect. The "check in " portion of initially speaking w/ an agent and reviewing the reservation, where they pitch add'l insurance, offer to fill the car for you was a time- wasting nightmare. I stood in the line for roughly 37- 45 minutes, just during this part. I was informed that unless a customer is a "Preferred member" the check- in process is unavoidable and hence, the long line. Just a heads up.

From the moment I got off my plane and went down to the garage to receive my car, it was all downhill from there. An hour and a half online and extremely high temperatures in the garage. The one car that was available that I received had damage and smelled like cigarette smoke and vomit. I was sure to report this to the person working the exit gate and she wrote down the information on my receipt. Upon calling customer service a few times and speaking too bad for different people, I just got scripted answers and zero assistance from Budget.

No one working desks in the Nashville airport. Directed customers to outside garage - 100 degrees plus. They said computers were down. 8-10 people in line. 20-30 minutes per transaction. 2 hour line. Billed twice for rental because they didn't have reservation on file. Still need to straighten it out.

We had to wait in line for over an hour to pick up our rental car, with one person in the ticket window, and everyone was hot, and sweaty.

I rented the car in the midst of the bomb cyclone and subsequent Southwest Airlines meltdown during the Christmas holidays which led to tens of thousands of passengers to seek alternative transportation. This led to rapid turnover of cars. The first car I was assigned had a nearly flat tire, so I had to stand in a long line to replace it. The car wash system was inoperable, so the car did not get cleaned. The car wash issue was weather related. Otherwise, it was a fun car to drive from Nashville, Tennessee to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was a Toyota hybrid, which saved on gas. My experience overall was good, considering that it came in the middle of a weather disaster, which led to a host of related problems. I was just grateful to have a car, and I will definitely rent from them again should I need to rent a car in the future. Budget staff performed admirably well during an unprecedented crisis.
