Vancouver Island car rentals were 3 times higher than mainland British Columbia! So that just about ruined the whole trip! They limit you to 100 Km day! After that it’s $1.00/km!!! Ridiculous!!

Location awesome. At the drop off I was asked if I brought it back full. I said yes and instead of saying ok, he said May I see your receipt.. no reason to ask if you are not going to trust the answer.Would be better to simply ask for the receipt up front to confirm..he did the same thing for damages. Asked me if there was any damage. I said no and then he made me wait while he went to check. Just tell me up front that he was going to do a vehicle check and he could confirm it was full and undamaged.

the only thing you need is better signage at nanaimo airport, I saw where to park the car but could not see where to drop keys off. I was not aware there was a counter inside the airport.

My original rental was with another company but they were overbooked so they rented a car for me at Avis. Avis was extremely helpful and very courteous from pick up to drop off. Would highly recommend them for your car needs!

Our vehicle was certainly adequate and we had no big problems because of it. It was much smaller than I had expected it to be (basically a car with a hatchback). Previous mid-size SUV rentals have been larger. We were advised that the brakes screeched when first starting out in the day - and they certainly did. The hatch also did not raise all the way, which meant my tall husband got some nasty knocks on the head when putting things in and out of that area. The hatch also did not close from the button on rear of vehicle - it had to be closed from the key fob. Thankfully it had AWD as we ran into unseasonably snowy roads during our stay. It was adequately clean, although whoever wiped it out must have had a dirty cloth. We had no problems and it was suitable for us - but have never rented a vehicle before with things not working and was much lower to ground than expected (Ford Escape).

The Operations Manager, Arjun Dhingra, is one of the rudest and least helpful individuals I have dealt with. He acussed us of damaging a rental car and demanded we provide photos. Not only were we not instructed to take photos of the car, we did not have a walk around with any of their staff. Most importantly, there was absolutely no damage with the car. When this was brought up with Arjun Dhingra, he became needlessly condescending and rude. I will certainly never rent from Hertz, and cannot say anything good about their staff. Just absolutely rude, fraudulent, disgusting people who ought to consider changing careers.

No one escorted to parking lot where the car was parked for pickup. Car had 2 scratch marks on the passenger side front bumper at the bottom along with black spots and light stretch marking at many locations on front, back and sides of the car. But no one accompanied to note down and I was asked to note down my inspection results on pre-rental inspection form. No customers care touch at the time of pickup. I am yet to undergo drop off experience tomorrow morning i.e. on August 02, 2022 at 7 A.M. Hopefully it would be better than pickup experience.

The van was very good. But the girl at the rental counter had us inspect the car for damages. We told her about some scratches on the rear passenger panel. She told us not to worry about scratches. She told us to look for dents or other damage. When we turned the car in on 7/21, the guy made an issue of the scratches. He said they were going to possibly charge us for repairs! We were told not to worry about scratches. They were already there and we don’t feel that we are responsible.

We booker it online and everything was set. We landed in Victoria, we called the number to take the shuttle to get to the office to pick up the car. No one would pick up. 20 mins later someone finally did and informed us that unfortunately they dont have any cars left so the reservation is cancelled. We didnt reveive any info about this, we were left at the airport scramblimg to find a car rental that can help us, but everyone was sold out. When we found a car available, it cost us more than it should with similar type of car because we tried to book on the spot. This is very poor customer service with Alamo, i understand that things happen but communicating this to us even through email ahead of time would’ve helped us go for a plan B. But telling us that they dont have any cars left after we’ve booked way ahead of time and told us the news the moment we’re trying to pick up the car is totally wrong. I’ve travelled a lot and dealt with car rentals all the time and this is by far the worse experience i’ve had, will never book Alamo again.
