Very good experience overall. Rental counter agent was great to deal with. Unfortunately, the vehicle originally assigned to me was not parked in the garage spot indicated (nor anywhere else in the garage, as far as I could tell. This required me to go back to the rental counter with all my bags and get another car assigned. The second time, the car was in the indicated spot. No harm done but I did lose at least a half hour because of the problem. Otherwise, I would have no recommendations for improvement.

Trying to get help with our account was not optimal. The responses we got were" I didn't know how to do that " and "Did you try the web site or email address." If I can't get him free a real person,that tells me the internet is not going to be any better. I'm not that proficient with computers and prefer talking to people .

All in all, everything went well, except for one small detail. The technical condition of the car leaves much to be desired. Throughout my journey, there was a huge hum and vibration in the rear axle of the car for over 2,000 miles. It looked like a wheel bearing malfunction, or unfinished wheels were very unpleasant to drive all the way, whether you would reach the end point or not. All the way, I had to listen to very loud music so that Togo wouldn't listen to that sound.

I had to wait 30 minutes for my vehicle to be cleaned. The person at the counter offered me a cargo van (all that they had on the lot) for my family of 3, but told me it would be for an additional charge, so I sat and waited the 30 minutes. Once on the highway with the car, we found that we couldn't accelerate without the car shaking. We dealt with this our entire trip, because we did not have the time to return the car and wait even longer for something else, or something that I didn't want to be upcharged to drive.

The counter staff at the Salt Lake City Budget was rude and unhelpful. When we arrived, he informed us that he did not have the 7 passenger one way rental that we reserved back in January. He told us that we could take another car but could not tell us if it was for 5 or 7. He told us to wait while he checked with another budget person in the car pick up area. He ignored us for over 30 minutes and when we returned to the counter, he continued his rude attitude and acted like it was my problem that the car I reserved was not present. In the meantime, my husband went directly to the car pick up area and spoke with "Johnnie" who was extremely helpful. Johnnie reported he had the 7 passenger car and had tried to call the counter staff multiple times but he did not pick up. The counter staff should not be working in customer services. He lacks interpersonal skills and is made no effort to help the situation. This reflects very poorly on Budget that they allow this person to be the first interaction with customers.

Booked thru Kayak, but Hotwire was somehow involved. Budget didn’t have the kayak/Hotwire reservation details, so basically had to rebook at the counter. Also the vehicle rented wasn’t available, instead of minivan we got a passenger van. Big difference, those aren’t “similar”. Had I known the minivan wasn’t available, I would’ve have rented elsewhere. Very poor booking experience.

When I arrived at the Budget desk, the wait was an hour as 2 of the 3 employees went away for 45 minutes. The online check in didn’t work through their website and app so express check in didn’t work. When I arrived at the desk, the attendant wouldn’t accept my physical MasterCard as it was and Apple Card through Goldman Sachs. She said that they didn’t do Apple Pay which is not how it works with the actual card. This was the card used for the reservation and there was no forewarning about card they would accept. They wouldn’t take another card number and when I asked to get an explanation or talk to another person, she turned off the computer in front of me and moved to another and called the next person in line. The customer service line had me on hold for additional 45 minutes without anyone picking up. I wound up having to rent from another company costing hundreds more and the 3 hour delay made it so I missed skiing that day which was the purpose of the trip. Very disappointing in general and the customer service overall was horrible.

Waited an hour in line only to be told by the extremely rude employee that there wasn’t a car for me unless I wanted to wait at least another hour for a car to be ready or pay double the rate for a different car. I walked over to Avis and got in a car in 10 min. Budget SLC lost my business forever.

I waited in line to pick up the car for over an hour. Once I was able to get to the counter, they charged a higher price than I was quoted by Kayak and gave me a smaller SUV, not an intermediate SUV (which is what I reserved). They said I could only get a bigger car for a higher price. I will not use Dollar again.

Pickup and dropoff were quick and easy and the vehicle was clean. I traveled for a ski vacation with a large ski bag and reserved an Intermediate SUV, a "Nissan Rogue" or equivalent. They gave me a tiny Chevy Trax and my ski bag would not fit in the vehicle without having the back seat and the front passenger seat in the down position. The Trax is much smaller than the Rogue and transporting the ski bag in it was inconvenient. How disappointing. Beware.

After waiting in line for an hour - along with dozens of others, we finally got to the desk only to be told that it would be a two-hour wait for a car despite having a reservation. When I inquired whether there were other vehicles available I was told that they only had pickup trucks currently. When I said that would be fine, the desk agent informed me that I would have to pay an upgraded rate. The desk agent was as kind and sympathetic and blamed the issue on the manager - who was nowhere to be found. We were able to walk next door to Enterprise and secure a vehicle at a cheaper rate in 10 minutes. The manager at Dollar in SLC needs to be fired.

I will never use Kayak again to book a rental. I entered the dates of my trip but they defaulted to something else when I booked the trip and then I was unable to correct the dates and my money was not refundable. I have had great experience with Enterprise in the past, and purchased my current car from them, but this experience with Kayak has completely soured my feelings. I rebooked a rental though Hertz, and while it cost more, it was a great experience overall. I will book directly with Hertz for my future needs.

Would not rent a plug-in hybrid again. I spent money charging it at night and did not notice any benefit from it. The extra charge was used up within just a few miles each morning. Apart from that it was a nice vehicle.

Car was low mileage and upgraded us after some minor delays at pickup. Friendly staff and made sure that we had everything we needed. Maintenance alert was on as car needed an oil change. It did not disrupt our trip. We picked up car in SLC and dropped off in St. George. Would definitely choose Enterprise again.
