Dollar was good. Hertz terrible although I know Hertz owns Dollar. Hertz confirmed my San Diego International Airport two days before my flight with the pick up in Tia Juana. I called to straighten it out and they blamed it on Kayak. They said they could get me a car at the airport for $1,100 or about $700 more then original quote. Only when I kept complaining did they do a "courtesy" and book me on Dollar. A Hertz hussle.

I rented the car for San Diego airport. However, it was not the main San Diego airport!!! It was an airport 30 miles south of the main airport. When I booked the car, it said San Diego airport -- not that it was 30 miles south. I was originally to pay around $420. I ended up paying $940!!! I feel as if I was tricked to renting the original job. I won't use Kayak again......

This a unbelievable transition. I have the correct pick up and drop off address but Hertz said that’s not what they have. The charge went from booking price $290 to $890. Of course, I have to find something else with more reasonable price.

Kayak booked my reservation for pickup at Tijuana Airport instead on San Diego Airport so when I arrived at the counter in San Diego there was no reservation and I ended up having to pay almost tipple the reservation rate

I booked online with Avis. It said there was a car available. I paid for an Uber to get to the location. When I arrived, she said they had no car for me! So, from there, I had to Uber (fee of $59) to airport location with more selection of cars. I told them what happened and they didn’t try to give me any inconvenience discount and the guy didn’t seem to care at all. I asked him to give me an economy car, but he ignored my request. He gave me a midsize, even when there were other smaller cars available! Not only that, he asked for another ID other than my DL and my CC?! Why? I am 51 years old, not 25 and under! Is it because I look young. Discrimination! Never again will I use Avis! I usually go to other car rental companies, like Hertz. They never gave me a hard time.

When we made the reservation, you booked the car by Tijuana even though I had made the reservation for the San Diego International airport. That caused quite the confusion at the counter. Why was the car booked there instead of the airport? The price was much higher than what our reservation indicated. they are now giving me a refund for the difference.

1st: Stood in line for 45 minutes... only 2 people in front of me 2nd: Ask to drop the vehicle off at an airport 30 minutes away.... the desk said you must call the "Avis" number to change this before you start the paperwork on the rental car. 3rd: Stepped out of line to call "Avis"...after 10 minutes on the phone, they said it would cost over $900 to drop off the vehicle at another airport. (renting the car for 7 days) (remember we are talking only a 30 minute distance between the 2 airports) 4th: The Avis representative said to have the representative at the Avis desk make the changes (everyone passing the buck) 5th: Stand in line again.... one group in front of us....another 30 minutes 6th: Finally receive the rental car.... they give me one key fob that is taped up... they say to walk out into the lot and push the panic button to find your car...(no one is on duty?) 7th: Find the car, notice the tabs are expired... my wife goes back into the terminal .... they tell her it is fine 8th: We notice there is no one to check us out? How do you prove the dents and scratches in the rental car?... now I go back into the terminal and ask about the check out procedure. They inform me all the dents and scratches are in "their" notes (yeah...right?). I do not agree, so the sales person said to take pictures of the dents and scratches. I asked if this will be sufficient when I return the car, and the sales person said YES. 9th: We load the car up with our bags, push the start button, and it won't start. It says to hold the fob closer to the engine button. I take the fob out of my right pocket (max 1.5 feet away) and hold it by the engine button. It starts! Yes! 10th: The fuel gauge read 1/4 full!!!! Also the "Check engine light" is on and also flashes "past due on service" 11th: One more trip into the terminal ..... they say it is OK... just return the car with a 1/4 tank of gas.... 12th: 4th day of 7.... Car will not start.... we had to jump the car. 13th: Called Avis and set up an exchange for a new auto in another city. Also my wife arranged us to drop the car off at the other airport. They said it would now cost $25 extra. 14th: The exchange went fine.... 20+ minutes... received a much nicer auto, but it only had a 1/4 tank of fuel!!! 15th: Turned the car in on day 7... They charged us $75 instead of the $25. Also, I returned the car with 3/4 of a tank of fuel.... didn't have time to debate... had to catch a flight.

I booked, got a confirmation and then a check in. When I went to get the car she said there are no cars and there never are for same day booking. She had nothing to offer. We called Avis and they couldn’t help either. So they canceled. Next day we received a $50 cancellation fee! There’s nothing I like about this experience!

It was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. I booked through Kayak, prepaid and flew into San Diego. After landing, wewere waiting with several other Kayak customers for the shuttle, and when it showed up, the driver said "we don't have any more cars". They weren't apologetic nor did they give us a voucher for a future rental. They said Kayak overbooked them and that was that. They did offer to give us a refund. I then had to go to Avis and pay an enormous amount because they were almost out of cars. I would never rent a car from there again. So buyer beware, you get what you pay for.

I didn't actually rent with BUdget. When we arrived to check in, we were told we didn't have a reservation. It turns out the car was reserved in Tijuana. Really? Sure your system would give us San Diego when we searched for San Diego airport. We were treated as a walk in for Avis. Not a bad experience but very insettling.

The staff at San Diego did what they could to help me after my original reservation was erroneously made at a rental office down on the border. Unfortunately, the cost was over twice as much as the original reservation. That made my car rental the most expensive part of my vacation - even more than my hotel. Then I didn’t want to spend much time in the car as it smelled of old smoke that had been attempted to clean unsuccessfully. Not my best experience with Budget!

The clerk that helped me was very honest and the vehicle I rented was in very good condition. I think the security deposit was higher than what was disclosed on the post and I wish the post was upfront about it. I did get my entire deposit back and everything turned out good.

There were at least another 10 customer groups ahead of us with the same problem. Their system and processes need major revisions to get them to be competitive… will never use them again… missed my Dr’s appointment which was my primary reason for the trip!
