Didn't even take the car. They kept saying to get the car I needed a separated insurance from the one I purchased. I've done rentals with them before and never did they offer it. My reservation was for $500 and the insurance they were forcing me to get was $1,600. That's ridiculous.

Beware Friends! This is a total cash grab! I used Kayak to rent a car in Mexico. What they failed to include in the advertised price was the cost of insurance. The company I my rental was through would only allow you to take the car if you used their insurance or paid the total value of the car up front! Yes that’s right they wanted $14 000.00US. This was false advertisement on Kayak’s part. The price should have included the cost of the non-negotiable insurance price. The insurance was so expensive, we didn’t take the rental. We actually thought it might be a scam. They wouldn’t accept any insurance coverage you have on a credit card or through your own insurance company. The couple in front of us was sold insurance through the booking site AND the car company still would not accept it. Shame on you kayak for not including this information up front. I only found it after in the small print. You can start to fix this by including the total cost of the car + insurance and refunding me my money back.

The rate that is given on line is not what you end up paying. They force you to get this (MANDATORY) insurance that sounds like a scam to me. I end up paying double the rate of the reservation.

I made a reservation I had been sent a confirmation e mail and a code to pick my car up when I landed in Guadalajara they said I never made a reservation even tho I showed them my confirmation email they acted like I never reserved anything!!! It went from being 500 for the car to it being 1700$ plus 2000$ deposit we where basically stranded in Guadalajara which we are not familiar at all with !!

When I got to Puerto Vallarta they didn't have my car. The girld in the airport booth. Didn't try to help me she didn't care. I got stuck in puerto vallarta for one day . I had to pay a hotel for the night. I end un talking the bus to my destination. Very bad service from the girl at the booth. I will never used Kayak or thrifty.

The pickup and drop off process is much too slow. I waited in line for 45 minutes to pickup my car. At drop off, I was the only customer there and it still took 20 minutes to check me out. The insurance is ridiculously expensive and I did not have an option to waive it.

Many hidden fees!! They force you to purchase insurance even though most credit cards cover this. It is at minimum $20/day. Also lots of taxes. It ended up being about $200 more than advertised on Kayak. Complete BS.

Kayak hooked me up with a midsize car for me , my wife and my parents who are larger people so we need a midsize vehicle for our trip and there's luggage too! First off we couldn't find the enterprise on FRANCISCO MEDINA ASCENCIO 141, Puerto Vallarta, JA, MX which doesn't exist. So we went to the airport enterprise- to grab our Nissan Xtrail, they proceeded to tell us that they don't have a car for us even though we have one reserved prior to coming. Arguing with the enterprise rental person no apology or anything, which is ridiculous. So we cancelled our rental reservation due to no car and no help from enterprise at all. We tried to get a car at Alamo at the airport who also didn't have any cars for us. They took us to the big Alamo outside of the airport. They told us they had a midsized car and they gave us a Nissan Micra clown car. This is the smallest car and we all had to sit with luggage on our laps and at our feet it was so small. Whatever we get the car do our trip to Mazatlan and go to return the car. They won't give us our deposit back so we sat and waited. They were super unhelpful and didn't know a goddam thing about anything at all. This was the WORDST RENTAL CAR EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!! I am not at all impressed with PRICELINE, KAYAK, ENTERPRISE OR ALAMO!! You have all gotten this review because none of you are helpful or even care about your customers. I will never ever use PRICELINE, KAYAK , ALAMO OR ENTERPRISE EVER AGAIN! I would like this issue to be rectified.

The check-in & drop-off process is a total cluster with zero organization or signage to let anyone, no matter what language, knows what to do. Taking 30+ minutes to pick up a car when I'm an Avis member is insulting. Last time in Puerto Vallarta I rented with Hertz & it was a quick & easy in & out process. Guess who I'll be using in the future in Puerto Vallarta? Definitely not Avis...

Despite having a reservation, they did not have a car large enough for our group. This happened to us once before, never again. Both times we ended up renting from a local agency, and had much better experiences. Just look up local options on google maps and contact them, like you would larger agencies.

Overall it was pretty easy. The guys that helped with the inspection and return were professional and friendly. The car was in ok condition, definitely a bit rough around the edges, but it functioned well; the cars do have a hard life down there with the rough roads. Overall an easy experience with no heavy upsell, which is always nice to avoid.
