Car rentals in Cape Cod and the Islands

This Alamo and the enterprise both need new leadership and employees. I’ve been dealing with a problem with them for over 6 months and no one is fixing it.

I have rented with Enterprise before and chose Alamo (not knowing they were together). Bad experience with Enterprise last time even though I have been a customer for many many years. When I picked up the car, nobody was there. I waited 15-20 mins. I was told where the car was, which was a good walk, and walked to the car myself and drove away. No inspection of the vehicle. The rental we received was too small even though we rented a Full SUV, 7 passenger-they gave us a Nissan Armada, which was a little dirty, had the new sticker still on part of the roof which we figured out because of the noise it was making. We lost the radio/navigation for awhile, then came back on. We had five of us plus luggage and lets just say the children (16-18) were not very happy. I believe I will be renting from a whole other company when I rent again. Last year when I rented from Enterprise, Plymouth location, they were not very accommodating and the time before that I had to trade that rental in for another one.

It took us nearly an hour to pick up our car. The office was severely over staffed with just one person there to handle all pickups, clean the car and deal with drop offs. She was stressed out and unfriendly. The person ahead of us took 45 minutes to resolve some issue with her car, so my family had to wait in the hot sun outside the tiny office. When we finally got inside, the person behind the desk had our reservation written down, and knew we were coming (we had reserved ahead and called the day before to confirm), yet she had to slowly re-enter all our information. Then she told us she had no clean cars available, so we had to wait while she ran out to clean out the car we had reserved, which had trash in the front seat, unvacuumed etc. While this was happening two more people came and had to wait, so I’m guessing this one poor agent had to deal with angry visitors all day waiting for her to manage. No wonder she was stressed and hostile!! Avis please support your teams with better systems and staffing. We will find another option for future transportation.

The experience was the worst one I ever had. They ran out of cars. I did a favor by taking it a day later so others who were in need could get a car - with the promise I could return after hrs since there was no way I physically could get there since I got the car late. I got there and no after hours drop off was available so after an hr on the phone with no solutions I had to change my flight. Will never use Avis again.

When I arrived the office gave me the keys to the car I had ordered. When I got to the car, the car wreaked of marijuana smell. I went back to the counter to tell the woman and she said "oh the prior customer smoked in there." So she already knew there was an issue before I got to the car. She wasn't surprised at all. She had no other cars available except for a minivan. I said well then it wasn't cleaned at all since it still smells, which is ridiculous, because the cars should be cleaned in between customers. She then sprayed something in the car but it didn't get rid of the smell. I had to attend a funeral and then drive 4 hours back to the Westchester airport. That smell was horrible and got on my clothes before I even got to the funeral. I also told her to make a note in the computer that this happened because I didn't want to be charged for the smoke smell when it had nothing to do with me. She just hand wrote it on the contract. When I got to Westchester, there was no drop box for the key in the parking lot - there should be! Instead I had to haul my luggage all the way to the counter inside the terminal to return the key. Overall, I would give it less than one star if possible.

I really liked the location (right near ferry) and the easy check-in and out!

The representative in Plymouth was super friendly and professional.

It was a nightmare. I booked a car for Hyannis MA and they booked me one in Nantucket. Trying to cancel on line did not work and it took many frustrating phone calls to finally get it cancelled and our money refunded. Fortunately our friends were able to pick us up in Hyannis so the lack of a car there wasn’t as bad as it might have been. I have no idea why they booked a car on Nantucket, Priceline could see I had plane reservations to Hyannis.

The staff at thr hyannis airport are always so very helpful as always very kind and also very understanding "Hertz rental has always been my rental for the last 5 years, I have tried other car rentals, The worse is "Entrprize. They were very rude and always rushing me to get to the next person in line, "Hertz has always took the time and understanding to make sure my rental was what i wanted and asked questions to help me "Thank you so much for the staff at the hertz rental

The check-in was very easy, the vehicle was clean except for the windshield and the price was great.
