Cambridge travel tips

Which neighborhoods in Cambridge should I stay in if I want access to public transport?

Luckily, most of the city’s main sites are within walking distance from each other, but if it’s a particularly rainy day, there are multiple transport options around Cambridge. The railway station is situated a mere 20-minute walk from the city center, alternatively, you can catch a taxi, several of which pass the railway station. However, if you want to be as central as possible, we recommend staying on or near Round Church Street, where you’ll have ten restaurants on your doorstep and close proximity to shops in Cambridge. The city center is also a great place to stay if you want to be close to all of Cambridge’s nightlife, as well as close proximity to most of the city’s museums. Cambridge city center is also home to King’s College, the most well-known and most visited college of Cambridge University. There are numerous bus stops around the city center and the Round Church Street neighborhood, making getting around a breeze.

Where to stay in Cambridge

What neighborhood in Cambridge should I stay in based on why I’m traveling?

If you’re traveling with family, there are tons of family-friendly Cambridge hotels to choose from. We recommend staying along De Freville Avenue. It’s a tranquil neighborhood that is perfect if you still want to be centrally located but not too close to the hustle and bustle of the city center. Acorn Guest House and Populus House are great hotel options in the De Freville area. De Freville neighborhood is also on multiple bus lines, making it easily accessible to get to other parts of the city. However, if you're looking for cheap hotels in Cambridge and you’re traveling on a budget, there are plenty of cheap hotels in Cambridge in the Mill Road neighborhood.
