The Hat Madrid

LikedStaff are friendly, breakfast is good, rooms and lockers are a good size, it is clean throughout and rooms cleaned at least daily. It was also welcome the shower and toilet were within the 8 bedroom dorm.

DislikedOnly minus was I requested a lower bed in the 8 bed mixed dorm, was told this was accepted and then was given an upper bed with no lower beds available the night I checked in. Not a major point as the Hat (i) offered me a change following day in a different room (which I declined as I liked the people in my dorm) but if you say you have a lower bunk you should be on the lower bed and (ii) explained if you book as a couple you get same bunk which restricts lower beds available for solo travellers (which is understandable).

LikedSuper central location. Close to all the sights and located next to supermarket and Five guys. The staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly. The room and the hostel overall were very clean.

DislikedThe hostel had no activities for the travellers. They have a beautiful terrace but it was mostly empty. If you are a solo traveller wanting to meet other travellers this is not the place to be. The public areas in the hostel felt a bit anti-social. Also the showers could have been cleaned better. The drain was clogged and the water was flooding.

LikedThis was the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in. I found the bed really comfortable and was happy to have 2 pillows. Privacy curtain across the bed and a plug socket and light inside. Bathroom inside the room was a plus and it was very clean. Water was nice and hot in the shower. Rooftop bar was wonderful. Sangria nights were an easy way to meet new people if that's what you want to do. Excellent location.

DislikedCould be a bit more cooking equipment in the basement. Very small oven and I don't remember there being a stove.

LikedAt night it was a tour for a lot of bars, really cool
